Hours

Reservation & Cancellation

A valid credit card is required at the time of booking an appointment. If you must cancel or reschedule your reservation a strict policy of 24 hours notice is required to avoid a charge of 100% of your treatment.

Spa Etiquette

To ensure that you and those around you experience the best visit possible, we suggest the following: Arrive early. Arriving late will keep you from enjoying your full session or treatment. Should you arrive late, your treatment will end on time so that the next guest isn't delayed. Our environment is one for a little peace & quiet from the hustle & bustle, so please make sure your cell phones are turned off.

Payment

Body Bar accepts Cash, American Express, Visa, Mastercard and Body Bar gift certificates. We do not accept personal checks.

Gratuity Policy

In appreciation of quality service performed by your technician, we recommend a 15%-20% gratuity that may be paid by credit card, or cash at the front desk.

Parking

As with many areas in the city, street parking is the best bet. Please schedule for a few extra moments ahead of your treatment to allow for parking. Often, 2 hour metered street parking is available, but on high traffic times it can take a moment.

Valet parking available at Dusty's restaurant located one block West at Descanso.

Founders

Body Bar Urban Spa was started by a group of young investors who came together to create a place of wellbeing and personal transformation in Silverlake California. They believe strongly in the community, wellness, and skin care and the ability to bring them together.

Janell Hanna - Growing up with problem skin, Janell made it a personal goal to not only solve her own skin care issues, but to help others gain the same self confidence that she achieved by improving their complexion. Janell has over seven years of skincare experience and has perfected her ability to analyze different skin types and develop treatment plans that are specific to their needs. Miss Hanna has performed the following techniques throughout her career:
Microdermabrasion, assorted peels, acupressure, advanced massage and facial firming techniques, stone work, oxygen facial treatments and she has had the experience of working with several skin care lines. She also continues her quest for skincare perfection by attending workshops and major tradeshows in the area that outline future technologies as well as product development. Come in and join Janell for a facial and see the benefits immediately!

Anna Logan is a passionate esthetician ... Anna keeps her clients at ease with her caring and healing manner backed with an abundance of knowledge under her belt starting with a background in health food stores at an early age (17) she became very interested in the healing arts and reversed her own discomforting skin ailments...In 1998 she went on to work and train with Aveda and from there continued in the skin care retail/education world for 12 years now.  She has worked with a multitude of lines over the years from Dermalogica to Murad to her organic obscure faves of Osea, Arcona, and Lotus.  Anna's green philosophy is carried out in her services as she is trained in holistic skincare treatments from anti aging, skin sensitivities to acne...she is well versed to meet your needs because she feels holistic treatments target the whole person and when that balance happens the skin follows suit with glowing vibrancy...She  has been educating herself and her clients for over 10 years, giving clients home care regimens that can make a difference.  Anna believes holistic skincare has proven to be more beneficial long term than the "quick fixes".  Facials not only keep your skin looking great, they assist in stress reduction, muscle fatigue and tone, and circulation/oxygenation.

Adina Diaz is dedicated to holistic skincare and living a green lifestyle both in the spa and at home. While attending a holistic skincare school in Arizona she mastered many skills, including stone facials, microdermabrasion, medical-grade peels, acupressure, back facials, herbal wraps, body scrubs, waxing, eyebrow and eyelash tinting, and night and day makeup application.  Adina’s passion lies in her ability to heal her clients and relax their mind, body and soul, while providing a facial that is tailored to the client’s individual needs.  She is devoted to understanding her various clients’ lives and sending them home with the knowledge and tools for them to continue the treatments at home. Adina prides herself on staying current and abreast with the latest facial trends as well as the various factors in the environment that continue to cause skin conditions to everyone’s skin.  She travels the country, attending various trade shows to work for Lotus Moon Skin Care, an all natural, and organic, medical grade line. Her immense knowledge and skills have been very beneficial to those who have encountered her, both at Body Bar Spa, and across the country.  Book a facial with Adina and enjoy your results and her healing hands.

MaryJaye Simms received her training in Esthetics in 1985 to strengthen her knowledge as a Make -up artist. As an esthetician, she has worked with many lines over the years and has taught for several of them as well.
Her focus in skincare is anti-aging and preventative measures not only in her treatments but what you as a client will use on your skin at home. MaryJaye is a Bellanina Facelift Massage practitioner as well as the Los Angeles educator for Bellanina Facelift Massage Seminars. As an esthetician she trained in body treatments which led her to massage therapy (1994) and for more on that subject please see her information under Body Care.

Certified Massage Therapist & Body Work

MaryJaye Simms - MaryJaye has been practicing massage since 1994. Her initial training consisted of Swedish, Deep Tissue and Myofascial Release. Her continuing education has included Acupressure, Craniosacral Therapy, Lymph Drainage, Bellanina Facelift Massage and most recently pregnancy massage through Bodywork for the Childbearing Year with Kate Jordan. Bodywork for the Childbearing Year focuses on relieving the aches, pains, structural and muscular changes that occur in a woman's body during this truly transformational time. There are stretches and massage techniques you and your partner can learn to alleviate  some of the more common issues that come up and a thorough massage plan to take you not only through the pregnancy but also address post pregnancy issues as well. MaryJaye can create a massage plan custom designed for your specific needs. 

Jesse Calhoun - Jesse received his massage training from The Chicago School of Massage Therapy which is one of the top ranking and oldest massage schools in the country. During his extensive training he has become nationally certified in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Reflexology, Thai-acro Massage, Deep Flow Massage, Oncology Massage, and is a leader in the field of Stone Massage. As a former Anatomy and Physiology instructor at Hired Hands International University in Chicago he gained a reputation as one of the most knowledgeable and reputable therapist in Illinois. His understading of structural balance and emotional/energetic connectivity gives his style a unique and profound quality. Jesse has years of experience working with various athletes, triathletes, martial artists, and dancers. Jesse has since brought his talents to Los Angeles and is very happy to call Silver Lake and Body Bar Spa his new home.
